Thank you all for participating in the giveaway. It was so much fun reading all of your captions, seeing your photos and hearing what they mean to you. In fact there were SOOO many amazing shots I couldn’t pic just one winner and one second place. So, with the help of @juiceyj, we picked 3 winners who will all be getting a full set of the Black Market Series 1 and they are…..

Firstly @justinapplegate submitted this amazing photo of his daughter. To use his own words for him this is “a photo that engulfs my inspiration and the one person that inspires me most. My daughter’s love for art and constantly wanting to learn and better her artistic ability and mind is astounding.” For me I love this shot because how the light seems to funnel all the world through her eyes and then out through the darkness of the lens. I didn’t get into art until I was a teen, but I love the idea that Justin can connect with his daughter on a artistic level through photography together. Photography is an amazing art in that way. We’ve met so many amazing people doing photography, and I love that here you can see that in the photo from one side of the lens, and feel it in Justin’s words for the other side. Plus anytime a kid can be holding a Hasselblad she’s pretty rad in my book. @justinapplegate E-mail me your shipping info at derek@derek-woods.com.

Second @a_cherise submitted this one saying “simply put, this is one of my favorite photos of mine because these are my second pair of eyes.” I feel this way about my cameras all the time. I often find that I don’t really enjoy something if Im not photographing it in some sense. Almost like I need to take some of it with me to enjoy it. So many people submitted images where their cameras helped them stop time to help them cherish it. Photography is incredible for many things, but to freezing a memory is possibly its most powerful ability, and without these mechanical eyes we would never be able to do so. @a_cherise E-mail me your shipping info at derek@derek-woods.com.

Last but certainly not least is from the lovely @samguss. As Sam put it “This photos was taken at a rough time in both of our lives. The reminder that something beautiful and powerful can come out of low times is what keeps me doing what I am doing.” This is so true for me that photography becomes the way to get in touch with how and what Im feeling. I love this photo because Sam and @krysta_kaos came together to make something that externalized how both of them felt. The photo was able to give life to it and externalize it but all the same create a powerful image. The fact that the photo carries such emotion, even without knowing its history, really speaks volumes to the power of photography. Sam E-mail me your shipping info at derek@derek-woods.com.
