Good morning and happy monday Tumblr!
Sorry I neglected you over the weekend. I indulged in my video game addictions and saw Ke$ha. Fear not I shall have many a photos for you this week!
WHO INSPIRES YOU?
I follow a lot of amazing people on tumblr, but every now and then people stop posting, or I just like to find even more people to follow. Im looking for new inspiration on the interwebs.
What artists, photographers, models, musicians do you follow on here that inspire you?
Working on some exciting new prints that are going to be available today. Im super excited!
“If you’re not busy being born, you’re busy dying.”
does your beard always smell like julie?
All day every day.
Question to the tumblr friends: would you guys like to see more of the iPhone/digital stuff I shoot on here?
Ive always thought to mainly keep this tumblr more pure “photography” but with various other places becoming more and more impossible to post the “life style” iPhone stuff I shoot in my every day Ive started to consider posting some more here.
are you going to ask julie to be your mrs.?
Ive been getting this question more and more so I figure Ill answer it this time.
I believe that life is about acting on a a feeling, or an instinct, when you feel it and finding how to fit that in to the image your life. In the image of my life I absolutely see Julie in my life the rest of my life. When that will happen is only for me to know.
I guess you’ll have to stay tuned!
Your photography is amazing, but I must ask why use film? I mean you’re fucking amazing behind any camera so why do it the analog way… I get the sproket rocket and the polaroid but the rest it seems you would get the same results using you 5D MkII?
Thats a great question. At the end of the day I like the magic that the chemistry of light and film makes. Certainly I could fake that magic with filters and PS, but really at the end of the day I dont get joy out of that. I get joy out of film, finding new ways to explore how it can play with light and how I can use that to shoot models. Digital, although I understand its place and do use it very sparingly, it doesn’t bring the same joy to my life. Its just taste for me.
I do often debate using digital more. You could argue that the freedom of digital could lead to capturing something film couldnt. Some day I may shoot both for a period to see if I get different things with digital, but for now I love the film and all its magic!
I like to hear from photographers that openly admit they have an obsession with multiple cameras/formats. Do you make sure to finish each roll, can it be frustrating to finish a shoot with half a roll left, and then waiting to develop?
Hola! I pretty much end my shoots when I run through all my film, so I dont usually have to worry about finishing each roll. If I dont finish them I enjoy the surprise of getting a surprise photos out of a roll.
