Its rare that I shoot landscapres, or really things other than people with instant film but a while back I decided to start slowly collecting images into a project called “Low-Fi Landscapes.” Those following particularly closely may have noticed the hashtag now and then, but Ill be posting them a bit more often here and there as they are starting to grow on me.

“Why did the old Persians hold the sea holy? Why did the Greeks give it a separate deity, and own brother of Jove? Surely all this is not without meaning. And still deeper the meaning of that story of Narcissus, who because he could not grasp the tormenting, mild image he saw in the fountain, plunged into it and was drowned. But that same image, we ourselves see in all rivers and oceans. It is the image of the ungraspable phantom of life; and this is the key to it all.” – Herman Melville

This is one of my favorite places to take pictures. Ive stopped and taken a photo hear virtually everytime I drive The Pacific Coast Highway.

One of the first pictures I ever took of Julie was here during our first trips together. This place took on new meaning for me then, as the lines running together seem to feel like the new life Julie and I were starting.

When I was a kid and had a crush on female celebrities I would always say “I wish I was their best friend.” To which my Mom would ask, “You don’t want to be their boyfriend?” To which I always replied, “Boyfriends come and go, but best friends are forever.” I found my best friend and my love in the same person.
