Hahaha. Im sure you’re not the only one having that thought. In fact at the time Julie joked she would.

What kind of models do you shoot? Do you shoot amateurs? Do you do trade work?

It all depends on the model and the situation. Its a conversation with every model. I like to shoot creative people that inspire me. There is no hard and fast rule on what type of people those are; so contact me at derek@derek-woods.com and lets chat.

Ok. Well Ill list my favorite starters then:

35mm Film: Olympus XA (XA on ebay) or Leica LC-A (LC-A on lomography)

Instax: 50S (50S on Amazon) (not really a starter, the only one you’ll ever need)

Polaroid: Well, this is harder to answer. The best polaroid camera, in my opinion, is the SX680. But its pricey unless you gamble with getting one from ebay. Its less risky to hunt for a cheaper polaroid camera on ebay to just start. Just try to find something that’s in your price range that says its in working order and then order film from Impossible Project Film. If you have the money to go with one of their refurbished cameras right out of the gate then definitely look HERE.

I think women are beautiful in all shapes, sizes, and type of decoration. I just happen to be friends with lots of tattooed girls.

When you shoot with Krysta Kaos do you let the session get more “sexual” because shes a porn star or would you have that happen with any of the models you shoot with? I just thought I may have noticed the Krysta photos appearing more sex-related when compared to some of your other photos I’ve seen. Beautiful work, always!

Good question. Typically I come up with ideas for a shoot based around the style of how I see the model. Krysta is a very sexual person so she puts out a lot of sexuality in every shot. So I designed ideas for our shoots around that specifically. Each model gives off different vibes, and I like to try to capture what I see in them. Sometimes its how they work normally, and sometimes I like to try a new direction with them.
