Howdy! I make them by shooting images on a Nimslo 3D camera. Then I scan the negatives, import the images to Photoshop and line up the 4 layers.
Go to view and select “Time Line” then set each image to appear for 1, 2 or 3 frames. In order to loop you will need it to go in the order of image 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, and then 2. It will restart back at 1 then.
You could kind of set them to the beat of your music by playing with the amount of frames you give to each image, at least in terms of slightly matching the temp.
